Through this strategic partnership, Vay’s technology will support Kodiak’s proprietary Assisted Autonomy. Assisted Autonomy allows humans to remotely control trucks at certain low-speed and well-defined scenarios that benefit from human involvement. Assisted autonomous driving is part of the Kodiak Driver feature.

To support Assisted Autonomy, Kodiak deployed Vay Stations along with software tools to enable low-latency communication between the Vay Stations base station and the Kodiak Driver-driven vehicle. This allows the Kodiak Driver to handle a wider range of driving scenarios.
