This marks that the application performance of the world’s first automotive-grade 5nm intelligent driving chip Shenji NX9031 developed by NIO has reached the design goal, and the performance of a single Shenji NX9031 is equivalent to four NVIDIA Orin-X.

Li Bin said: We have always believed that the car is a product to be used for more than ten years, the higher the computing power of the intelligent driving chip, the more guaranteed the intelligent assisted driving experience of the whole life cycle of the car, which is also the reason why NIO launched the world premiere Mobileye EyeQ4 in 2018 and the world premiere of NVIDIA’s flagship intelligent driving chip Orin-X in 2022.
“Our actual mass production time is more than half a year ahead of the original mass production time of these chips, and this process has also overcome many challenges. In the process of mass-producing these world’s leading intelligent driving chips at that time, we also have a clearer understanding of what kind of intelligent driving chips are more in line with the long-term needs of intelligent assisted driving. Li Bin believes that the most advanced intelligent driving chip should have the following characteristics:

The computing power and bandwidth should be high enough to support about 10 years of intelligent assisted driving algorithms and software technology upgrades;

It can ensure safe and reliable operation under extreme conditions, and can support active and passive fusion intelligent safety with ultra-low latency and ultra-fast response.

It must have all-weather and all-scene image signal processing capabilities.
According to Li Bin’s statement: high-end SOC chips have a large investment and a long cycle, and if they fail, the upfront cost will be all wasted. Due to the rising complexity, the success of high-end large chips can be tape-out is a big challenge, and the chip can be lit up after returning to the film, which is only the first step to complete.
